WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT THE 2018 BALLOT QUESTIONS

The 2018 Ballot Questions will appear on every ballot in Connecticut’s November 6, 2018 election. Here’s what you need to know:

BALLOT QUESTION #1 asks whether the state should constitutionally protect the Special Transportation Fund (STF) so that the STF is used exclusively for
Connecticut’s transportation needs and cannot be diverted for other uses. This is often called the “transportation lockbox.”
Vote YES to approve amendment to protect Special Transportation Fund
Vote NO to reject this amendment to protect Special Transportation Fund

BALLOT QUESTION #2 asks whether there should be a constitutional limit on the State legislature’s ability to sell or otherwise dispose of any State real property – land and buildings. This amendment is aimed at increasing the transparency of state property transfers by requiring:
* Legislation for each piece of property being transferred or sold
* A public hearing on the property transfer
* A supermajority to approve certain transfers
Vote YES to approve this amendment to increase transparency of state property transfers
Vote NO to reject this amendment to increase transparency of state property transfers
